This programme introduces St.Petersburg ib all it’s glory and charm. You will see the gems of St. Petersburg – its palaces and cathedrals, the Neva and suburban Imperial residences. All the tours are scheduled for morinigs and in the afternoon you will have enough time to discover the city by yourself. The best day to begin this programme is Wednesday.
Day 1: Arrive in St. Petersburg. Transfer to a chosen hotel.
Day 2: Morning Tour of the City. General overview of the history and architecture. You will visit the Peter and Paul Fortress - a symbol of St. Petersburg and also the oldest building in the city. While there, you will see St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, the burial place of the Russian Tsars from Peter the Great onward. The tour will be continued by the visit the Naval Cathedral of St. Nicolas.
Day 3: Morning visit to the cathedral of St. Isaac.
Day 4: Morning Tour to Petrhof (Petrodvorets), an amazing ensemble of parks, palaces and fountains. You will visit Monplaisir – the favourite palace of Peter the Great. Return to St. Petersburg, free time in the city centre.
Visit Palace of Pavlovsk, residence of Paul the First, Catherine the Great’s son, built by the best classical architects of 18th century. Almost entirely destroyed during WWII, today it’s completely restored and makes a wonderful impression by its elegant and harmonious mood and collections of porcelain, tapestries and paintings.
Day 5: Visit to the Hermitage. Lunch in the museum cafeteria (no arrangements). After the excursion you may stay in the museum and continue exploring collections.
Day 6: Morning visit to Pushkin (Tsarskoye Selo), the imperial residence famous for its impressive Catherine Palace. The most famous interior of the palace is the legendary «Amber room». Return to St. Petersburg, free time in the city centre.
Day 7: Free day or optional trip to Novgorod 8.00am-8.00pm. Real ancient Russian architecture can be found just 180 km away from St. Petersburg.
Day 8: Departure. Transfer to the airport.
